Join us for the first Women's Woodworking Intensive Course, taught by Kelly DeWitt of KKDW. This two-day immersive class will take place at the KKDW workshop, outside of Wimberley, TX, and about an hour southwest of Austin.

Over the weekend, we will cover a select group of woodworking tools as you work to make your own bench (sketch pictured). This class will focus on the tools I use when constructing almost every piece of furniture I make; tools that will propel beginners into the world of woodworking with confidence and agency. I designed this class to serve as an intensive course for those interested in beginning their own furniture practice, but it serves equally well for anyone looking to begin hobby projects or just have a fun weekend learning a new skill.

We'll focus on the following tools:

  • Table saw
  • Chop saw
  • Router
  • Sander
  • Wood clamps
  • Planer
  • Bandsaw

We'll also discuss furniture design, wood choice and type, and best practices to finish different wood pieces.

All equipment and supplies will be provided, as well as snacks and meals (and plenty of cold ones after we've wrapped up at the end of the day). You'll also receive a branded KKDW notebook for note-taking.

This class in particular is special to me because as a woman in construction, a historically male-dominated field, I feel exceptionally passionate to provide a safe, judgment-free zone for anyone who identifies as a woman to learn more about this craft. My goal is to give you a leg-up and an in-depth glimpse into a world that can sometimes feel difficult to break into. Please reach out to me with any questions you might have about the weekend: kelly@kkdw.co.
